Hi everyone,

How do Osteopathic schools look upon an applicant who applies to allopathic schools as well?

When I apply to medical school, I will apply to mostly allopathic schools, but my primary goal is to be a doctor, so I will also apply to osteopathic. Will I have a hard time?

Osteopathic schools are used to people apply to both (as are allopathic schools). Just be sure that you understand what osteopathic medicine is (basic philosophy & know what OMM is).

I seriously doubt that anyone will give you a hard time. If questioned, just give them the reason you gave in your post.

They will not give you a hard time.

Like DrMom said, just make sure you know what osteopathic medicine is, and the philosophy behind it. It wouldn't hurt to know the history also.

I also applied allopathic and osteopathic at the same time. I even mentioned that I applied to both in AACOMAS essay and even in my secondary essays - it's no big deal
