Anyone know someone who beat the odds?

I just like a little motivation now and then on these forums.....Do any of you know of an applicant, who was average or slightly sub par in terms of scores or research that ended up matcing into a top program bc of ....whatever...hit it off well with chair...did great on a sub-I...rocked step 2...etc etc??

I like hearing those one in a million stories, since these boards can get so depressing sometimes.....Feel free to share if you do....

MY story: I have a great friend....who got a 224 Step 1, 1 pub-non uro, and rotated at a top Uro place and hit it off so well with the chair there, that he wrote her an outstanding LOR and she ended up matcing (not there per say) but in another very well respected program....mainly due to that letter...She's now a uro 3.
