Anyone heard of this guy? Austere medicine specialist for "federal agencies"? How does one wind up in this field?

So...this guy is former 18D, former Navy nurse, trauma surgeon with fellowship, degrees in combat medicine, he teaches government employees and some civilians the covert use of a snubnose revolver and the best ways to kill someone with a knife, and he's the first one I've seen say "always check your patient for weapons before treating him." I never would have thought of that.

Has anyone heard of him, know what it is he does, and how he got there?

"Voodoo Doc is a prior enlisted military combat infantry, then cross trained combat SOF medic /18D, that transitioned out of the military after resigning his eventual commission and going into a top tier global emergency response team (ERU/SWAT) as a unit member. He has held full time flight and dive medic/nurse position as the team med one, with post graduate studies (MD) in combat and trauma medicine (specialized practice in fleet force medicine), also having a board certified trauma general surgerical fellowship.

His various positions at local, state, and federal level have required he stayed on the forefront of mental and physical tactics and training; including combatives - blade work, small unit tactics, escape and evasion, firearms and long range target engagement, small arms instructor and clandestine interdiction.

He specializes in the often overlooked skill sets of mental training and stress preparedness along with medical management and use of that knowledge to improve both your offensive and defensive array of skills. He integrates his medical knowledge in the field of trauma and reverse engineers it to the firearms and combatives protocols currently being used. He is federal firearms instructor for individual and team tactics, and has contributed to federal and military sniper school instruction and curriculum. His knowledge of Austere medical practices and field surgical procedures is used in various programs in today's combat theaters and training.

He is currently still an active asset and works in teaching and field roles as well as lectures and course development."

Yup, that's me guys, time to fess up.
Great training you conducted for five days of September in Luther Michigan - the FBI wants to interview you. Do you moonlight as Dr Hagmann too?

I’m not sure how you would get a doctorate in combat medicine. I imagine he means he was a combat medic, but the way it’s written, that’s not what it implies.

Do you think he gives these seminars on knife fighting post call?

He does coop classes on knife and gun stuff sometimes with Ed Calderon, former Mexican paramilitary who is highly regarded in the fields of counter-kidnapping abroad and, basically, undercover stuff. He has an instagram-- skeldinson.

Beyond that, I don't know much about him.

I don’t see how seeing him pose in a bikini helps me to understand where he’s coming from better.

Maybe this?

Maybe this?

The description of their background is nonsensical and I have a hard time believing someone is a physician and successful operator but somehow can't put together a coherent biography. It all reads as intentional obfuscation by someone trying to separate LARPers from their money or adoration. Maybe it's legit but it does not mesh at all with my peripheral experience meeting people who do the kind of work this person claims to.

Usually if you want someone to take your wild resume seriously, you would at least include some kind of identifying information so that they could verify…well…anything you’re saying. Rather than, say, using a pseudonym.

Agreed. I've met many of the former vietnam era CIA "spooks" and they all have this persona about them and very much are the "quiet professionals". This just screams "I was logistics and spent some time in Kuwait during the Gulf War and I am super hoooooaahhhh"

Yeah but what command-wide project did he to as part of his Lean Six-Sigma green belt training? Doesn't sound like he's making O-5 anytime soon without that.

Green belt training, ILE, and sacrificing his first born......
