another question on mosaicism

no parents are effected, but all 3 kids are effected with NF, so this can be due to germline mosaicism, where the you have the presence of two sets of precursor cells for the production of sperm and eggs. Cant exactly grasp the idea of mosaicism, besides its an error in mitosis, so as in this case, during spermatogensis or oogensis, during mitosis, a mitotic error, one cell population has a mutatoin and one cell population doesnt? This mutatoin arrived bc of the mitotic error, or was there a mutation in the NF1 gene, and then subsequent mitosis will lead the mutated gene to be only in one population of cells? HIGHLY CONFUSED
