I bring this up since most of you probably don't read any of the premed forums at this point in your careers, and may not widely read the SDN forums.

There is a heated discussion regarding the AMSA in the pre-allo forum. It began with someone identifying AMSAs selection of gay marriage as a legislative action issue, and has evolved into a discussion of AMSAs political agenda in general.

It's an interesting read/discussion. Though some of it has degenerated to name calling, you can sift through and find legitimate discussion points.

If you enjoy some of the heated discussions on the SDN forums as much as I do, be sure to check it out:

How's this for a legitimate discussion point?

AMSA is full of a bunch of granola-crunching, socialist, left-wing, crack pots.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on the issue.

HEAR HEAR!

As a granola-crunching, tie-dye wearing, bleeding-heart, civil-rights marching, left-wing liberal I resemble that remark.

I support the rights of gay people to marry. Completely.

However, I think there are a lot more important things in medicine to be lobbied for than gay marriage. Malpractice issues, payor systems, inequality of healthcare. Come on, people!
