Quick question: I want to go to ICO if I don't decide to go the med school route, but I've been wondering about something for the past couple of years. As I've followed the statistics of accepted students over the last 3 years, I noticed there was only 5 or 6 African Americans in the 2003 starting class, I believe only 3 last year and 1 the year before that. Why is that? Is it because African Americans aren't applying or is it because they are not qualified for entrance?? Any input as to the number of African Americans in your classes would be appreciated (trying to spot a trend maybe).

I?ve read that the AOA is encouraging minorities to apply to opt school, but I think that there aren?t that many applying.

I had a conversation about this with a faculty member from UHCO, and they told me that they want to accept more african american, but there just aren't as many applying.

I think there's around ten african americans in our class.
