This thread was created to place actual postings or links to podiatry jobs.

Not all jobs are created equal and there are pros and cons to each, along with different salaries, bonus structures, benefits, and lifestyle. Some examples below.

Direct Hospital Employee
Hospital-based Group
Foundation (Kaiser)
Federal Government Employee (VA/Military/IHS)
Academic/University
Multispecialty Group
Podiatry Group
Private Practice

Seems legit 🤷🏻‍♂️
I am going to advertise a job that pays better than 99 percent of other jobs across a huge network and get a million inquiries ...

And based on job description it is plug and play and doesn't require any special skills....

And one thing that continues to be difficult is the lack of accuracy with online postings. I can easily find 3 very good jobs that are still posted....one of which I got and one of which I interviewed for and didn't get but know it has been filled.

"How about $300K plus bonus and benefits?"

"Scam!!!"

Bingo. You realize this after you actually start your active job search vs casually looking at postings.

Also the 300k private practice is such an obvious scam. This is almost as stupid as “click here for a free iPad!”. 99% of other private practices offer a garbage 100k base but then these guys in some podunk little town are offering the upper echelon of hospital base salaries? Yea, ok.

I think Dr. Rogers means well, but he can not single handily change the realities of the podiatry job market. It is still nice to see someone in his position make an effort. Naysayers might say it is self serving, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

This job does sound to good to be true.

I mean, there has to be someone here who can apply to it and get to the point where a contract can be seen. Until then there is a 0% chance that a podiatry group (of any size) is offering $300k in guaranteed salary, with the benefits listed IN ADDITION to said salary. Zero.

Just curious -- what base salary would you guys want to see offered from a podiatry group where you would consider it enough but not too much? $150K? $200K? $250K?

Asking for a soon-to-be-retired friend... 😬

Or better still, there should be someone here on SDN who has a friend who knows someone that has a friend that currently works in that podiatry group and can confirm that the CURRENT pod associates in the group are all clearing $300k base.
Why will they hire a new doc for $300k and advertise it publicly if there are current employees making less. So I will be the devils advocate and say it's legit. Until someone proves otherwise.

I think most would say 200K base, but anything above 150K base unfortunately ......you almost expect lots of call and long hours, a special skill set that not all have, a proven track record outside of just a residency or to live in the middle of nowhere for a PP podiatry job.

I think $150-200k base with 40% collections after something like 2.8-3x base is reasonable. Increase % by 5-10% if DME is not included in collections. Or you could straight salary at something like $180k for 1 year and then convert to % of production which should be more like 40% if your friend wants to keep them around.

That’s way better than most podiatry group offers that I’ve seen or been offered. It would allow the associate to make $200k if they can bring in around $500k. I don’t think anyone would be dying to leave with that kind of income. They absolutely will if they only make $120k.

I don't think it's an actual scam. I just don't trust it. Outliers are usually bad for a reason

Well…..as the saying goes, “if it sounds too good to be true….”

I have had multiple friends interview at PP across the country. They have direct contact with prior associates that left and can confirm they could pull in $250k+ BUT expect - long hours, questionable billing, a lot of salesmanship for products. How many pods do we all personally know piece mealing EpiFix, Grafix on every single wound that walks in for months on end….

Imagine if you put in that same amount of work+patient hours at a hospital/MSG, you can out produce far greater for a return that you can deem more fair and reasonable. But to get to that point, the majority have to slave away for a couple/few years. Does that even make sense to the higher ups? Of course not because they’re already in a position of power and can look down all they want. They can’t make money if they don’t have an army of residents and students doing the scut work

I don’t doubt the $300k offer above but just like pre-pods deciding on another career because they did their due diligence, potential applicants should too. But guess what - if desperate enough, I guarantee one will sign on despite whatever red flags there are. Rinse and repeat.

Isn’t is sad that here on SDN we have to bicker over how near impossible it is to have such a “high” starting salary, when there are far more productive careers outside of healthcare (good job gen Z pre pods for doing your research). My friend, fresh college grad, landed a Google gig for $270k+. I know a facial plastic surgeon cranking 10k wRVU a month. Ortho in my group producing insane amount of wRVU and still go home by 4-5pm.

Since @NatCh asked so kindly, I joined that group and messaged Sunny asking for "a friend" aka SDN, his response -

"This is not a surgical position, It is wound care, DME, injections routine care sports medicine. Typical office. 25-30 pts a day. Bonus structure hasn't been determined yet but that will be part of the discussion. Historically our associates end up with 30-37% of what they generate. Our practice has tools to generate increased incomes over other places. The main thing is this office is in Kilmarnock VA. We would need someone who wants to live in a small town like that. And be committed to the patients there and the community there. This may be a factor when talking to your family. Our providers end compensation with bonus ranges from 350k to 500k usually depending on production some even higher. But money isn’t everything need to like where you live and enjoy going to work every day. Please look into the town and let us know if the non surgical office position you would like in Kilmarnock VA. If you are truly interested in the location please email me your CV And when you can start we are trying to fill this soon as our two doctors there right now want to retire. [email protected]".

Make of that what you will. For someone who is not interested in surgery, who doesn't mind living in "Kilmarnock", and who doesn't mind billing *very* creatively and getting 30% of collections, this is the gig for them.

Well done. That position sounds pretty good for someone who fits the criteria. I don’t know if you’d even have to “bill creatively.”

Yikes. That sentence has five qualifiers with conditionality or uncertainty connotations. Five.

Make of it what you will.

It honestly reminds me of those sales jobs on the radio where you can make "commission of up to $400,000." They send you to train with the one guy in the country who made 400k one year (four years ago... never since) in a very rare territory, and then you find out that the actual median and mean compensation for a salesman there is about $60k or $80k.

Maybe "actual podiatry job postings" should be on hospital websites, PodiatryCareers, Indeed, etc... credible paid or prepared ads. Nothing is impossible, but I wouldn't hang my hat on a 2min type up from Facebook with incoherent run-on sentences? :)
