So here's the deal and I'd like advice from willing parties - I'm a long distance runner and I had a lateral ankle sprain ~3 weeks ago and taped it up with athletic tape. That worked well, until I developed some bad lacerations from the tape on my ankle where my Achilles is - the cuts extended from about the L heel to 1.5 inches up.
So new problem arises (though my ankle has healed), and I bandage up the cuts, soak them after runs to prevent infection, etc. I continued to run this entire time with mild-to-moderate discomfort from the cuts. No infections occurred thankfully.
I now have some elevated scar tissue and mild crepitus when I dorsifex/plantarflex (no pain), and discomfort when I stand on one foot and try to stand on my toes.
My question is - is it possible that internal scar tissue/fascia is limiting my range of motion here and causing the crepitus/discomfort? Or is this unlikely, and did I probably develop some kind of Achilles tendinitis (god I hope not). If scar tissue is potentially the culprit, what types of massage techniques/therapy work best for relief?
Thanks everyone for any input/suggestions you could offer!
