Hi, I'm an international student (undergraduate, pre-med) and my expected graduation date is Dec 2018. I'm aware that medical schools in the US don't start till August so I'm need some advice. Has anyone ran into the same/similar problem?

Should I start looking for some internships so I can stay in the US on a J-1 till May or should I ask for an extension of my I-20 and take some extra classes till May?
If I go for internships, can I also ask for some recommendations/tips on internships that would accept graduates who are non US citizens? Thank you.

Extend your I-20. Do not touch the J1 unnecessarily. You only have 7 years for your residency.

Thanks for your reply! I will ask my advisor about extending my I-20 once he returns to campus but someone told me about asking for an OTP. Is this an option too?

yes. F1 OPT would be muc hbetter than the J1, but if i were u i would save that for residency too

if u have f1 opt then u are secured for 8 years.
