Hi,

1st time poster with a question for you guys.

Anyone have a sense of how many interviews it takes to land a spot? I have a couple lined up, but I'm afraid the cost may be prohibitive.

I don't think there is a good answer to this question. It depends on:
1. Strength of your application
2. Strength of the programs you are applying to
3. Strength of your home program/pain program

I know at my institution, a number of residents interviewed at between 3-5 programs and all were offered a spot. If you are willing to give up a year of your life and a year of an attending's salary to do a pain fellowship, it seems a little odd to say that the cost of the interviews is prohibitive. Good luck!
 
I know this is mostly over, but where I thought I was ending up is not looking so bright at this point. I have interviews at RUSH and case western so far, but have not heard back from Cleveland clinic or OSU. Anybody know of any programs still taking applications? Thanks in advance... wish I knew about this website way sooner..

All programs are taking apps as we speak, but the sooner the better because spots fill up very quickly.

As far as how many programs to apply to, use your same judgement as in residency, the more the better your chances are. And apply around the nation, programs like a variety in the fellows.

Not all programs have made their interview offers based on personal knowledge about a few places and this thread from last year.

So Case has offered interviews?

Kids + nanny = not enough money for 5 plane tickets and hotel rooms.
Don't mind the time or salary lost, worth it in the end.

CCF said they would let us know one way or another beginning of July. Figured I should have heard by now. Anyone heard from Beth Israel yet?
 
I followed up with CCF at the beginning of July and they would sent out invites this week, at the earliest
 
Does anyone know is Henry Ford still interviewing? When are they going to make offers?
 
So once a program has interviewed you and offered you a position, how much time do they typically give you to respond to their offer?

It varies widely and the programs hold all the power. I have heard of people having as little as 1 day and up to 1 month, though more commonly 1-2 weeks.

Anybody run into the situation of possibly signing a letter of intent but have future interviews (after the 2 weeks time period stated in the letter of intent) and still want to go on the interviews? What should people in this situation do? Thanks all.

Take the offer, if the location and training is fairly reasonable. At least that's what I'd do! Congrats!

I would take the position, hell that is what I did. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush! I then cancelled my other interviews.
