Hey I was hoping we could all pool our knowledge to figure out how many match positions programs are offering. Seeing as some programs don't recruit every year, I figured this info would be pretty helpful for applicants applying this cycle. I'll start:

Why is Yale only taking 2 this year? I thought they took 3 each year.

Why would Northwestern have no spots if they are registered through ERAS? Did I waste $25 applying there?

Probably you wasted the money. ERAS is not very good at updating their lists of programs accepting applicants. When I applied I at least blew $75 on programs which were not actually taking applicants. Even worse, I missed out on programs that were not listed (UMDNJ-RWJ) but were, in fact, taking applicants.

Ask around.

Yes, you wasted the money (as did I). And it is not refundable. Apparently, it is the applicant's responsibility to make sure the programs are accepting residents for the year of interest.

Sorry, I should have pointed out that the last post added Arizona, Drexel, Kentucky, Mayo Rochester, UCSD, Stanford, Utah, UT San Antonio, and corrected NY Methodist.

Anybody know of any PGY-2 positions to start in 2012 (other than what's posted on ARRO)?

hey guys, i was just wondering what everyone thought about including the number of in-house applicants each school has to this list? we could put them in parentheses after the number of spots. i think it would be interesting and useful to consider one's chances of matching at a particular program.

i can see a downside though, because some of these numbers may just be hearsay, and it may be difficult to update while maintaining anonymity. obviously, some information will just come out in conversations with others on the interview trail, and some people may be opposed to having someone else post this without their permission. thoughts?

I agree it may be hearsay, but some will not be, so I think it is worth it.
