Risky? Sure, because you're limiting yourself to a single state. But, it has the virtue of being the single state where you have by far the best odds of success.

It's analogous to someone limiting themselves to AMCAS and not bothering with AACOMAS. I think it's a legit strategy for a first cycle if that's what you want to do. @wysdoc is the resident expert on all things Texas, so I'd defer to her wisdom on this topic.
