Which style program on average has a higher application pool?

Is there an advantage to that extra year (ie. more sought after when applying for a job)?

Why are there so many formats to EM residencies?

Methinks the PGY1-3 programs have the greatest # of residents. My program, USF, is in its first year and we had like 600 applications. I know some of the big name programs like Denver get like 1000 applications.

There is a decent thread on www.saem.org talkign about the 3-4 year debate.

Q, DO
