My wife is a doctor from a really good American university and is currently finishing her residency program in Family Medicine at the same university. We plan to go to Colombia eventually but we are not sure what are the professional opportunities for her over there. I think this forum is the best suited for this question. I would appreciate if you could tell me any experience / how hard is it to validate the title, etc.

from Colombian:
Its not going to be difficult validate her credentials
Work is going to be hard, pay is extremely less.
Yes Colombia is a happy country, but I wouldn't advice her to work there.

job opportunities for doctors in colombia are excellent,
Colombians highly value american residency programs, and many colombians complete their residencies in the US

some major obstacles that come to mind are
fluent in spanish
having good connections

good luck
