Would you recommend that we intersperse our PAT preparation throughout our DAT preparations, or would you recommend adding PAT practice toward the end of our preparation, once we have finished our content review for the science and math sections?

In addition, how would you recommend that we approach preparing for the DAT? Should we start with content review in the more information-heavy science and math sections, while also reading science articles for Reading Comprehension; follow with targeted practice questions for these sections and the PAT; and then finish with the DAT practice tests?

Thank you for your consideration and for your efforts to help us improve our performance on the DAT.

Is Gold Standard DAT PAT book enough for studying PAT or it needs to complemented with another PAT resource?

Hi there!

Live DAT PAT from start to finish. On the most basic level, completing practice questions should be as regular as brushing teeth! This will increase your pattern recognition and speed. If you need a top score, we even recommend in our GS DAT PAT book to look for parallels to some DAT PAT in daily life so that the concepts are never far from your experiences.

Your approach is very good. Start with content review and take very brief notes (less than half a page per chapter). Review those notes often (from the beginning) to re-inforce the main concepts with increased frequency towards your exam date. Complete chapter review questions after each chapter so that you get feedback on your understanding of the material that you read (and take very brief notes). Identify your weak points and focus on those: more review, more practice, swish and repeat. Once the content review and chapter review questions are complete, you are ready to take full-length DAT practice tests. BTW, when you sit for your content review, always start with the subject you like least.
