Hey guys, first time poster, long time lurker!

I'm trying to decide whether it is realistic for me to apply this cycle or not.

Stats:
-CA resident, Asian
-Undergrad: Biology major at mid-tier UC (UCD,UCI,UCSB)
-MCAT: 27 (PS10,BS10,VR7), it's my first time
(my AAMC practice tests ranged from 29-32. PS12-13, BS10-11,VR7-8)
-cGPA, sGPA : 2nd yr winter quarter gpa: 2.9 --> graduated with cGPA,sGPA: 3.7
-2 years of basic science research: 2 poster presentations - no publication yet
(I'll find out whether my paper gets accepted in 2 months!)
-1 year of clinical research: won't be published til next year Feb
-~250 hrs of volunteering at a local hospital
-~30 hrs of shadowing
-1/month student-run clinic volunteering at Mexico (6months)
- and few other non-clinical EC
- strong letters of rec

Realistically, do I have a chance in getting into an MD school without retaking the MCAT?
I already took a year off to work on clinical experience and I'm just eager to apply and hopefully get in somewhere.

These are my list of schools (tried to look for ones with relatively low MCAT & >20% OOS acceptances).

-EVMS
-Penn State
-Oakland University of WB
-Central Michigan U
-Cooper Med
-TCMC
-U of South Carolina
-George Washington

How does this list look? Do you guys have any suggestions on what other schools I should be looking at?

Thanks for your input!

With your current MCAT score an an ORM applicant, I think that you're out of the range for MD programs.

In addition, I wouldn't apply to South Carolina unless you have strong ties to the state. You need much stronger stats if you expect to get accepted there as an OOS applicant.

A chance? Yes.
A good chance? No. As an ORM, you're about 3 points below "average."

If you want to apply this cycle, look into some DO schools.

Thanks for your input! I do have a couple DO schools in mind, but do you have any suggestions on what other schools I can add to my MD list?

Off the top of my head, you can look into:
Temple
Drexel
Jefferson
Toledo
Wright State
Quinnipaic
Rush
VCU
Commonwealth
MSU (both MD and DO)
Wake Forest

Do you have the MSAR? If not get it right away . I think your MCAT puts you out of reach for most MD schools . I'm not sure they would take a chance on you with hundreds of other applications with average or above average MCAT scores. You might not even make it through those schools that have prescreening filters with that 27.

Barely, perhaps at the newest MD schools (except Hofstra sand Va tech) and some of the bottom of the low-tiers, like Albany. A 27 MCAT is circling the drain

You're fine for all DO programs, including mine.

As an OOS applicant, I don't think MD is realistic as an ORM with a 27.
