Hey guys!

I am a first time applicant this cycle and wanted to gauge my chances of getting an interview or acceptance from schools. I have gotten accepted to SGU and Ross so far and am waiting on a few more schools. Applied : Western, Kansas State, University of Minnesota, Oklahoma State, LMU, Auburn, Ohio State, and WSU. Cumulative GPA: 3.2 (VMCAS)
Science GPA: 2.9 (VMCAS)
Last 45 GPA: 3.4 (VMCAS)


CASPER Exam Results: 97th percentile (4th Quadrant)

Veterinary Experiences: Employment as a Veterinary Technician at Beach City Animal Hospital (Small Animal) = 1600 Hrs
  • Assists Veterinary doctors during surgery as well as in examinations
  • Administers treatments and injections to feline and canine species
  • Inserts catheters and performing blood draws from the cephalic and jugular veins
  • Fills in doctors rooms by recording a patient’s history and current health status as a reference for the Veterinarians.
  • Operates an ultrasound machine when drawing urine from the bladder for the purpose of senior profiles, young wellness profiles, etc.
  • Performs cold laser treatments to animals with musco-skeletal and wound abnormalities.
  • Administered propofol to animals before surgery and invasive procedures.
  • Trained in operating an X-ray machine when producing diagnostic images for the Veterinarians to observe.

*Currently shadowing an Equine Vet in Chino Hills, CA

Animal Experiences (Without a Veterinarian) : Dog sitting = 300 Hrs

Leadership
: Founder/President of Animal Conservation Club
  • Created and started events regarding animal conservation and endangerment in a club setting. Junior year of college (2020-present)
  • Directed and assigned leadership roles to members of the organization including vice president, secretary, treasurer, and social media coordinator.
  • Contacted and reached out to experts in the field of animal preservation including David Mizejewski from the National Wildlife Organization, and Dr. Gladys Kimusoka a part of the African Wildlife Organization in Uganda.
  • Kept track of funds and paperwork concerning events and partnerships with the University and other wildlife groups.
  • Invited faculty members and other students from diverse majors to join in on projects and speaker dates.


Research: Kidney Cannulation lab on frogs where we are establishing ex-vivo murine isolated and perfused kidney models with the help of anesthesia tools.


Extra Curriculars : 1.) Theater/Drama 2nd year of college
  • Role of Jaime Wellersetin, The Last Five Years, Fall 2019
  • Director, Esther, Fall 2019
  • Role of Constable Locke/Dancer, The Music Man, Fall 2019
  • Nominated for best actor in the theater awards at Biola University

2.) Intramural Beach Volleyball Sophomore year of college 2 hrs/wk 15 weeks
  • Captain of Biola University’s Beach volleyball team
  • Ran and prepared drills for beach volleyball group
Achieved ranking of second place in the team standings

3.) Feeding the homeless = about 300 hrs

Helped in preparing and distributing food for food banks in the Los Angeles area where there were large homeless populations around. Provided blankets for the homeless individuals and assisted in supporting basic necessities for the less fortunate.
