Has the speed reading section shown improvement? Its quite difficulty for me to believe that someone's reading speed will increase over the course of three months to a point that it makes a difference on the MCAT.

Improvement to the point of affecting your score depends on where you are starting from and how much time you give to the program. For example, if you are consistently missing the last 2-5 questions and you spend an hour working on speed reading (combined with comprehension) per day for 3 months then it is likely that you will improve significantly.
