Hello guys

I am a medical student in the UK and planning to do my internship in Canada instead of the foundation year 1 here. The question is what is required for me at this stage to be able to do my internship and then my residency in Canada.

Thank you

Canada doesn't have internships like the US, UK, or AUS. You do directly into residency. To apply for residency in Canada you must be a citizen or a permanent resident (or specific citizens of other countries which sponsor residents to train here and then return to their country). If you are a citizen/PR, you apply for the resident matching service in the IMG stream, which means you apply to a specific limited number of slots set aside for medical graduates who did not train in Canada. You also need to write some exams. You can learn more about these on the CaRMS and MCC websites.
