This may sound like a no-brainer, but I would like some input nonetheless.
If you had the opportunity to stay in UAE and undergo residency training, would you do it? Or would you wait and try for your chances in landing a US residency program? Why?

I would recommend that you do. I have recently moved here. They are trying to revolutionise healthcare in the UAE and by doing so are bringing some of the best doctors from around the world to the UAE. Drop me a message if you want to discuss further.

No they're not. People still die because of very preventable diseases. The UAE has no healthcare system, it just sees healthcare as another source of income. From a public health perspective, how is it beneficial to have many specialists (very few are good), but horrible GPs? That's the reason why in the UAE, cardiologists manage simple cases of hypertension, internal medicine specialists manage simple cases of diabetes, ENT see people with a common cold. All of which could be easily handled by a medical student, not even a GP.

PM me and I'll explain what you can do about that
