I am currently a pre-med undergrad (I realize this might not be the best place to post this, so please let me know haha), and I am seriously considering an MD/PhD program--I am just curious how many graduates of MD/PhD programs actually go on to be practicing physicians. I originally got interested because I LOVE the research I am doing right now at my uni (and science is just rad in general), and would love to continue a career in research, but I also would love to practice medicine (neurosurgery or neuroscience maybe? but I'm also interested in like trauma surgery or emergency medicine). So, in short, is it weird to have the intention of doing 50% research and 50% being a physician in a hospital in a 7 or 8 yr program like this? Thanks in advance!!
