I'm a little confused about what this book is offering. Does it just contain explanations of practice questions and equations or is there other content? And when you say "the answers to Practice Tests III and IV" I'm assuming those are the AAMC tests?

Just to clarify this book is designed to go over the latest official Practice Test with full explanations?

What practice items are you talking about, just exams 3 and 4? Don't you get explanations with the CBTs from AAMC. I'm confused too, because aren't there eleven AAMC exams?

  • The book contains detailed explanations and strategies in 640 pages for 2 tests. Thus the detail is far greater than the AAMC provides.
  • Yes, it is for the AAMC Practice Tests 3 and 4.

  • 9, 10 and 11 are the latest AAMC tests; this book details tests 3 and 4.

  • There are not really 11 AAMC exams though they are numbered that way. Tests 1, 2 and 6 are not available anymore so there are actually 8 AAMC tests available. Yes, the AAMC provides explanations but we explain and teach for each question. We teach in a way so that the lesson can be generalized to a similar question that could arise in the real exam.

How is the Silver bullet different from the MCAT textbook?

Was there a specific reason you chose to use the older tests (3-4) instead of the newer ones (as of the (c) date)?

The Gold Standard MCAT provides a comprehensive subject by subject review for the MCAT including 3 practice MCAT CBTs. The Silver Bullet provides detailed explanations to 2 AAMC practice tests plus strategies.

We were doing the exams in sequence. We published the first Silver Bullet some years ago for tests 1 and 2. The AAMC decided to stop publishing them so we create detailed explanations and strategies for tests 3 and 4. We believe that it is an important part of MCAT prep to complete all of the AAMC practice tests. And, normally, students would do them in sequence and we believe that ideally you would have insights into the strategies early in your exam prep.

In a previous post, you said that teaching is generalized so that the lesson could be applied to a similar question. Does this also involve detailed content analysis with each question explanation?

How similar are the practice exams to the real MCAT?

Yes, that is correct. Unless of course the content analysis was done for another question in the same passage.

Ahh, so this is a answer key of sorts. Intersting - what advantages does this provide over AAMC?

We provide more details, we explain why the other answers are incorrect and most of all, for every single question, we describe the strategy that you must use so that you can generalize to any AAMC test.
