Hello, I am in my final year of my medical studies and i am currently doing my 1 year internship in bulgaria. I checked the irish medical council website and found trainee specialist registiration that i have to do first. Do you guys know how long takes to finish trainee specialist so i can try orthopedic/general surgery? Is it hard to get in and most importantly do you guys know deadline for application for trainee specialist? Thank you in advance.

Thank you newtwo for your answer, i couldnt reply earlier because noone has been answering and stopped looking. So i have to work 2 years as SHO and then apply for it. If i dont get, Can i try again to get in HST?. I really couldnt find any agency that helps student like me to get in ireland to work. What are the steps other than registering with irish medical council, E.g visa for working, will i get it when im accepted to hospital or before? I dont know anything. If you have experience, can you help me please. Thank you so much in advance

I'm not a surgical trainee so can't say for sure.
But afaik with the new surgery schemes you have 1 shot to get into hat scheme and then it becomes weighed heavily against you to get on hat

If you are EU citizen you don't need work visa. If not EU I don't know. It is definitely still possible but you must wait until all eu applicants get their jobs and then take the leftover s

If you are EU citizen you have a decent chance of getting a job here.

Hello, sorry I am not very familiar with the system here. sorry if I posted in the wrong place.
Can someone tell me what the surgical residency interview is like (to enter into the surgical residency program) in Ireland? the type of questions they may ask? medical or personal? any experience sharing would be very much appreciated.
