Hello all,

I am applying to DR this Fall and I was curious -- for Radiology / Prelim programs, are PD's expecting Sub-I's have to be done in Medicine / Surgery? Based on my schedule, my Sub-I is not until October, so I won't be able to get a LOR before apps go out. That said, would it hurt me if I did a Sub-I in a field that is currently has open slots (e.g. - Pediatrics)?

I will have done a few Rads electives by then, though, for a letter.

As, it stands, I have a Chairman's Medicine Letter I can obtain + Surgery + hopefully one rads from elective.

Thanks!

It won't matter at all. It won't be on your transcript and it's not likely anyone will ask you about your subI. Even if they ask, doing peds shouldn't be a problem.

I didn't even do my Sub-I until after interview season had finished, so as others have said it really doesn't matter one bit.
