Step 1 Exam Froze

So other than failing (I guess), my absolute worst nightmare came true while taking the test. I finished 4 blocks, and a few questions into my 5th, my exam froze. Proctor came over, moved me to another computer, and when I logged back in, the test had ended itself. I was advised to call NBME and they told me I have to send an email explaining everything and they would get back to me within 4 weeks. Prometric center says this requires an investigation on the NBME's part. Needless to say I'm devastated. I was wondering, does anyone know of someone who had to go through a similar process? Any idea how long this whole deal might take?

I am so sorry this happened to you. This is not something I would wish even on my worst enemy!

What makes it worse is that it seems that there is no urgency on Prometric's and NBME's part. It's like they don't understand the gravity of this test.
