This is an NBME question.

In SLE, involvement of which organ is most closely related to increased morbidity and mortality?

a. kidneys
b. heart
c. other?

I was thinking kidney because I know it's probably more prevalent, but that doesn't necessarily mean it indicates a worse prognosis than heart involvement. Anyone?

I would say kidney. From what I've understood, diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis is the #1 cause of death in SLE.
