I have one semester of pretty bad grades that I feel like I should explain, because, you know, the worst thing to do is to leave it open to the adcoms' imagination.
One excuse is that I was overinvolved with club responsibilities. But most importantly, I had to take care of my girlfriend, who was diagnosed with several serious medical conditions. While not life-threatening, they were debilitating and pre-cancerous. This is not exactly death in the immediate family, so will adcoms scoff at my explanation? Should I talk about it at all?
