Medical Raffle Item: Game Plan/Discovery Session (60 minutes)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Whether you are applying for medical school, residency, or fellowship, we can help you determine your overall game plan before you apply.

Medical School Applicants:

Clients start working with MedEdits by having a personalized one hour comprehensive Diagnostic Session; we obtain a full applicant history and then provide guidance on admissions topics of your choice and as needed. During this session, we come up with an overall Personalized Game Plan for your future success. Whether you are years away from submitting an application or preparing to submit this summer, the best way to get started with MedEdits is by having a Diagnostic Session. The majority of clients continue working with MedEdits after the initial diagnostic session by choosing a comprehensive package.

Topics discussed during a Diagnostic Session include:

Academic Achievements, Scholarly and Extracurricular Activities, Standardized Testing Results, Personal Statement and Application Entry Brainstorming and Content (if applicable), Choosing Letters of Reference, School and Program Selection, Candidacy and Academic Enhancement, Rejection Analysis, Waitlist Analysis.

MedEdits faculty are uniquely qualified to advise medical applicants not only because of their experience and knowledge, but because they are dedicated medical educators who are committed to helping each applicant discover his or her unique path, story, and distinguishing characteristics that can lead to success. Our advisory team collaborates frequently so each client benefits from this combined expertise.

We also stay up to date with the academic medical literature, recent statistics, and data. Our unique evidenced-based advising model offers the most up to date information for our clients.

Residency Applicants:

MedEdits assists residency applicants by developing a personalized plan to help them match with the program of their choice. We will discuss a time line for completion of tasks, specialty choice, elective rotations, the number of programs to which applicants should apply, selection of faculty recommendation writers, personal statement topics, and how to downplay any candidacy weaknesses and highlight strengths.

Dr. Freedman and her MedEdits colleagues know what specific criteria residency admissions committees use to evaluate applicants. Because of our residency leadership, medical student mentoring, and teaching experience, we have an inside understanding of what applicants should accomplish academically, clinically and extracurricularly to obtain the residency match they want and how to communicate this information effectively through their written documents and interviews. Our experience working privately with applicants also gives a unique understanding of applicants’ misconceptions and common mistakes. There is nobody in the residency admissions consulting arena with MedEdits’ depth of expertise.

Fellowship Applicants:

MedEdits assists fellowship applicants by developing a personalized plan to help you match with the program of your choice. We will discuss a time line for completion of tasks, your specialty choice, elective rotations, the number of programs to which you should apply, selection of faculty recommendation writers, personal statement topics, and how to down-play any weaknesses in your application and highlight your strengths.

Hi! Thank you for offering this! Just to be clear--this is an overview glance at our entire application package? Or is this a session where we can focus on any portion of the application we feel is important--for example, if we wanted to use it mostly to brainstorm for our Personal Statement?
