Hey guys, I'm an FMG who'll be applying this cycle, and I've been doing some reading online which has gotten me in panic mode. I have a couple of questions about LoRs:
- As an FMG, I was only able to do 2 electives in the US. I got 4 letters of recommendation from my first elective which was Cardiology. Now, I'll be applying for IM residency with 3-4 of these letters. Is it a red flag to have letters from only IM sub-specialties and not core IM? Again, I'm an FMG so LORs from my home country are pretty much useless. Would it be weird to apply to IM with 3 LORs from Cardiologists?
- Is it a red flag to have 3 letters from the same hospital? I could send 3 letters from this US hospital and 1 from my home institution, but again, foreign country LORs don't mean jack and I'd rather send all US LORs.
