Hey guys, I'm an FMG who'll be applying this cycle, and I've been doing some reading online which has gotten me in panic mode. I have a couple of questions about LoRs:

  1. As an FMG, I was only able to do 2 electives in the US. I got 4 letters of recommendation from my first elective which was Cardiology. Now, I'll be applying for IM residency with 3-4 of these letters. Is it a red flag to have letters from only IM sub-specialties and not core IM? Again, I'm an FMG so LORs from my home country are pretty much useless. Would it be weird to apply to IM with 3 LORs from Cardiologists?

  2. Is it a red flag to have 3 letters from the same hospital? I could send 3 letters from this US hospital and 1 from my home institution, but again, foreign country LORs don't mean jack and I'd rather send all US LORs.
If any FMGs or IMGs here have any info regarding this, please help me out.
