Thanks for the article. Just FYI, we're trying to use "gender affirming surgery" rather than reassignment. :)

The first transgender person that I ever met was a neurologist. I met him before and then after - I think she transitioned in 1993. Prior to the transition, the neurologist had been part of a neurology/neurosurgery clinic and had good, understanding collegiality and working relationships with all and that continued after.

I was only in college then but the doctors were all very matter of fact and I was impressed that they were accepting. And the rest of the group was 100% male - no women in the group. How's that for integration?
