Posting for a friend. Please help on low NBME score

Hi everyone,

A friend just told me about this and I ran out of ideas. I am coming here asking for your help on her behalf. She is about to take Step 2 in 6 days and she is freaking out and here is why.

Failed first COMP but studied more got 71 on her second COMP

Took NBME 5 months ago, got 240 and 260. Took NBME yesterday and got 260 and 280.

Average score in uworld is 64 on first run and 75 so far.

I feel like she knows her stuff but at the same time I can't figure out why she is scoring low on her exams. If anyone have any ideas as to what to do please post. She can't delay her STEP 2 anymore without reapply for another permit.

Have her take a UWorld Self Assessment or the Free 150. NBMEs are notorious for underestimating, and getting a "second opinion" may help ease her worries.

i think op is probably talking about the actual score that is scaled to have a mean of 500 and SD of 100, not the 3 digit so a 280 is somewhere in the 180s (2.2 standard deviations below average)
