Step 3 200 (took it without prep, just to qualify for H1B)
Accepted an out of match IM residency position from a community program ( no in-house GI fellowship) but on J1 Visa
3rd year chief, couple of teaching, professionalism etc awards
Only one good publication during residency- but not at the time of application
Applied in 2nd year of residency for GI- did not match
Looked for non accredited hepatology/nutrition/motility- couldn't get while on Visa
Accepted a hospitalist position in a Uni affiliated academic community program for J1 waiver
Worked with couple of GI guys at the Uni, 9-10 pubmed indexed publications, many abstracts, oral presentation DDW
Applying this year with GC in process, hopefully GC by match date
Not asking "What are my chances"
Hopefully I make it this year and so do all of you GI aspirants
