The Department of Pathology of Baystate Health (BH) is seeking a full-time AP/CP or CP pathologist to join a faculty of 20 pathologists working in a hybrid academic/private practice model. CP subspecialty expertise is strongly desired primarily in microbiology, informatics, transfusion medicine, or molecular pathology. Additional interests in other areas of clinical or anatomic pathology are also favored. Our faculty takes pride in its entrepreneurial and energetic spirit while delivering a full spectrum of anatomic and clinical pathology services under single leadership. In addition, we teach in our own freestanding resident and fellow training program and opportunities for research are available and encouraged.
The Department also provides medical leadership to Baystate Reference Laboratories (BRL), one of the largest hospital-based reference labs in the country. Annual system-wide volumes approach six million lab tests, 50,000 surgical specimens, and 65,000 cytopathology specimens. Molecular genetics, cytogenetics, and reference laboratory services are included with new molecular, histology, cytogenetics, and cytology laboratory facilities. Salary and academic rank will be determined by experience and accomplishments.
Springfield and the adjacent Pioneer Valley are located in beautiful Western Massachusetts with convenient access to coastal New England, the Berkshires, Vermont, and the metropolitan areas of Boston (90 minutes), Hartford (30 minutes), and New York City (2 hours). The region supports a rich network of academic institutions including the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Smith, Hampshire and Mount Holyoke Colleges.
