Because I don't want to be annoying to my home PD or programs (or too stressed out) -- when should I be concerned that programs I was told should be my safety schools by my PD giving out invites on SDN? My home PC said my letters are fantastic
As someone with a low step 1 should I expect later interview invites?
hello, i haven't received any interviews yet and this thread is making me very nervous. when should i start worrying about having 0 interview invites? US med student with 210-220 step 1 score, excellent clinical grades, multiple psych related research publications. took a medial LOA to receive surgery. step 2ck/cs pending. thanks!
It's going to depend on the program. ERAS allows to filter for that, so it's possible that a program does so--but our approach personally is to "power through". If it's someone we want and they have one great psych letter, we're not going to hold up an invite waiting for another. If there's a question...well then we might wait until we see another letter, or for the MPSE.
What's the purpose of this thread? If someone else got an interview from a program but you didn't, that means either (1) that program looked at your application and chose not to extend you an interview, or (2) that program hasn't even see your application yet.
Since there's no way of knowing which of the options it is, this information is pretty useless. Or am I missing something?
1) It's not schools, it's programs. While you will still be in training, it'll be a job, not school.Hey guys - question. Will some schools send invites through ERAS messages only and not through the invite webpage on ERAS? I have received one that way and just curious if my invite page isn't working or if this is an approach some schools are using... Thanks.
First, I want to thank you for writing in here and inspiring us! I find your postings so helpful. I appreciate!Filter in our favorite med schools first, filter out folks with unacceptable boards or who have been out of med school too long, divvy up the hundreds left so that someone in the program has at least laid eyes on most of them. Sift through for hidden gems, interesting PSs*, "OMG Best ever" LORs, look harder at folks with top 20% board scores and hope that we still have interview slots left for outstanding latecomers...
I'm getting a headache already.
*I wish splik still had his "The Six Types of Personal Statements" up--it was classic, and oh so true. It's pretty rare that one departs from that structure.

To others who received an interview at UNC. Did you email to schedule a date? Did they ever get back to you? I'm sure they're swamped, but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something...
I emailed on Friday with a bunch of dates in order of preference and just got the confirmation email back today through ERAS. It just takes a little waiting. To others who received an interview at UNC. Did you email to schedule a date? Did they ever get back to you? US MD program, 239 Step 1, 242 Step 2, 4 published articles, psych research, great LORs (I believe).
Haven’t received any interview invites yet. Is that ok for my situation? When should I be concerned? Not sure if there’s some “flag” in my application I’m not aware of.
I think it really depends on how many programs and what kind of programs you applied to. However, 87 percent of interview invites won't be sent until after Oct 1st so I don't think you need to worry either way.
Does the 87% apply to just psych or all programs?
