DMUCOM
Pros
Older school (assuming greater alumni base)
Student run clinic
Cheaper tuition (only slight difference)
Quieter, smaller place (better for studying)
"Off-campus" housing close to school
Smaller school (total students) - better for my learning and personality styles
Lower cost of living
Cons
Cold all the time (but I prefer that to extreme heat and humidity)
Scarce transportation (I had to wait 20 min for an uber when I went for the interview, and I don't have a car)
Unfamiliar town for me
Far from home
NSUCOM
Pros
Extended family in same town (but still far from home - parents)
Established travel abroad opportunities for underserved medicine exposure
High NIH funding for research
Main research in NeuroImmune medicine (I have similar research experience)
Cons
Larger student base with all the colleges within university (bad for me, but good on paper I think)
Newer school
Lower ranking
Humidity and hurricanes (I get a lot of headaches in heat)
The hard part is that I loved both schools when I interviewed and my gut isn't really helping in this decision. Based on my checklist points, both of them sit pretty equal. I would appreciate any of your insight. I need to make a quick decision.
