Both patients had macular degeneration but the visual acuity was still good enough for driving. They paid $5000 cash to some place called "US Stem Cell" at a clinic in Florida. NP injects stem cells extracted from abdominal fat into the eye, resulting in detached retinas.

Why is the medical board in Florida not issuing a "cease and desist" notification to an NP practicing eye surgery?

Any of you who near Sunrise Florida needs to go check this place out and report back here. Preferably take a hidden video camera with you and expose these charlatan clinics for what they really are.

Agreed on all points.

I'm surprised there is not as much outcry in this forum about this as we see about other issues such as optometry privileges. We should merge the two threads also mods.

Because the medical board has no authority over NPs

Ugh. What kind of jerkfaces do both eyes at once? It seems like even an 8 year old would think better than to do that. This story is the worst.
