Just wondering how the optometry community feels about Novitas/Medicares proposal to no longer cover OCTs?

If medicare stops reimbursing OCTs or bundles them the insurance companies will soon follow.
It seems like both ophthalmologists and optometrists have been wasting all our political influence lately on the right to do YAG lasers. Unless you're in a large practice the YAG/SLT laser probably won't even cover the cost of the laser. And right after optometrists get the right to do them, the number of procedures being done will increase and they'll cut the reimbursement for them.
Meanwhile they'll cut the reimbursements for all the rest of eye care while we fight amongst ourselves. It seems to be that the proposal to cut reimbursements for OCTs should scare the crap out of optometrists and ophthalmologists alike (and our patients if they knew how important OCTs are)
