Hi,
I am graduating soon from an EU country and I'm considering my options for Ireland. As i understood from the latest info from the medical council of Ireland website, I am eligible and i need the IELTS exam. Does anybody know how is the exam carried out? Is it difficult to pass? Do I need a specific score?
I also came across some info about how I don't need to do an internship in Ireland if I'm studying in an EU country, instead i should start a 'specialist trainee'. Does it mean that I should start my specialization right away when i go to Ireland? I would prefer to do my internship and then choose in what field i want to specialize in.
Also, is it very difficult to get a place in Ireland? I heard that the Scandinavian countries are easier to enter... I will need to learn a new language, but i don't mind that. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Hi Fleur,

I hope you have solved most of your professional problems since this post.

I am also a non-EU citizen who graduated from an EU country. I am registered with the Irish Medical Council but still have to apply for and Emergency Medicine Residency Programme this month. I know I am already in a position of weakness as vacancies are gonna be allocated to EU citizens so my only shot is to hope for a number of applicants that's inferior to the number of vacancies. I am writing this to ask you if you've heard more infos about Ireland in the last year and whether, given my situation, I still have a chance in Ireland or you think it's a waste of time in case you know there is a high demand. Thank you very much and I wish you the best!

Hi, would you be able to refer me to some reliable sources explaining how the ranking process work for Irish internship year? I'm non-EU graduating this year. I was also wondering whether it's worth applying for the Irish internship year as the chances seem to be non-existent based on what I heard.
