Here i am still figuring out how to post replies. so simran, yes you can work as a dental assistant, depending on your work experience back in India. you won't be able to do a couple of things like polishing or x-rays, a good idea is to do a radiology certification and set the ball rolling.
i hope this helps.

Very nice job. I took the liberty of editing your post, just by making it more user friendly since the font was on the smaller side and some of the hyperlinks were not working properly.

Obviously there are quite a few more FTD schools, so anyone with the will and time, please don't hesitate to add your contributions to this post and others.

Hello friends,,
I am seeing hopes here..I am doing internship now in india & have visitor visa.
1) Is there any ways that i can convert visitor to f1 visa?
2)If it is ,then what is possibility to get visa?
3) Or is it easier to take GRE, TOEFL and stand for student visa from india?
If any one has this kind of situation and knows abt it please let me know..
Thank you in advance.:)

I believe the only way to get a student visa is to enroll in a program at a university.

Hai everyone,
after completing a speciality program will i be able to practice in US or can i work in dental school as lecturer?

Hi,
Yes you will be able to practice dentistry in some states only. You can go to ada.org, find a document saying "educational options for interntional dentist" or something like that. It will tel you which states allow you to paractice with a specialty certificate/degree.

Hope it helps!

hey can anybody help me regarding an information.
transcripts is one of the required document for the addmission.
do the transcripts have to be in a sealed envelope by the dean/college seal or be it sealed by contoller of examination /university seal.
as WES (credential eval service)wants it to be sealed by the contoller.

plz mail me at [email protected]
i wd appreciate your help........
thank you .
God bless!

Dudes,

I have researched all the dental schools listed in ada.org and gave my best to pool useful information (at least for me). So, I thought of sharing this with you to save some time while looking for universities that offer Advanced Standing Program for international dentists.

While, I spent maximum time on looking up individual school websites, there might be some information that I have missed or you might have some information that I haven't listed here. Please help us collaborate this work for the good of everyone. Feel free to comment on this or give your suggestions or information that might need some editing or additions. I would be more than pleased to change it for you.

Also, I looking for someone to help me in figuring out stuff that I couldn't pool. Most importantly, 'Does universities accept provisional certificate at the time of application deadlines as valid proof?' Probably, we could send email or contact the admissions office. Is there anyone ready to volunteer and find this information for us, especially someone who is already in USA?

The attached zip file contains list of all schools from ADA. You may filter out the results to fit your needs. The file contains the following details
  1. University Name
  2. City, State
  3. University Website
  4. Phone Number
  5. Advanced Standing Program Offered (Y/N)
  6. Green Card or Citizenship Required (R/NR)
  7. Application Fee
  8. Application Start and deadline dates
  9. Admission dates
  10. Number of Seats available
  11. Minimum TOEFL,
  12. Minimum NBDE I/II marks
  13. Minimum GPA
  14. Req. Number Recommendation Letters
  15. Sort of education Evaluation
  16. Statement of Purpose
  17. Resume
  18. Personal Interview
  19. Bulletin Link
  20. Source Link from which Information pulled
  21. My Notes
Hope it helps someone. Thanks

Hello All,
I am glad some of you added important information regarding Foreign Trained Dentist's (FTDs) Schools. Its been over 2 yrs and few things have changed. I am thinking about updating the zipfile or make new one. Has someone already worked on it?.

PS: I've updated somewhat information with latest info.

Hi Allooosh, I assume your study at the dental school is in Arabic so you should start preparing for the NBDE right away because it takes some time to get used to studying all over again in a different language. For study material you can use Dental Decks, First Aid, Released exams, Kaplan book. And the exam is taken only in the US and Canada.

Good luck...

God Bless you! thank you so much!

Have you tried to apply to any schools yet? Think of other things in "the whole package". one score does not always decide everything, work on your resume, get an intern position somewhere, etc.

Thanks kilani..
No not yet, just terrifed
my toefl- 102
GPA-2.98
also have some volunatry work experience.
but i will tried,
one qusetion can i retake , or those options are closed...

hi kilani what is the mean by an intern position and how one can get that?
plz explain that........

My wife graduated from New York University College of Dentistry, New York 1990-1995 Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dentistry 1995-1996 Colegio Odontologico Colombiano 1990 In the present time doctor Salas is undergoing training at the prestigious LVI- Las Vegas Institute for neuromuscular and Aesthetic Dentistry.

It's an informal training program that varies in duration from few weeks to months, offered by many but not all schools and specialty programs, some institutions have well established ones, others have them ad hoc, you need to look at individual schools and ask directly, it helps if you have one interest in mind and show that interest (for example; perio, ortho, etc).

Anybody knw which all the skool required only part 1???

thanks docpheonix. That cleared some doubts regarding want to dds after mds. But your text raised one more question.

What sort of mds speciality program accepts without dds from ada accredited university? I mean are there any universities that accepts indian dentists into specialty program without dds from us?

hi there, can anyone tell me about bulgarian dental students?we r graduating with master degree,so i think it would be necessary to go trough speciality program!!! If i am not correct ,please correct me....

It doesn't matter if you get Phd or BDS from international school. You will have to take NBDE part 1 (maybe part 2 for some schools) and than goto 2-3 years school in US in order to get your dental degree and a license to practice in US.

Hi thr..I really appreciate your help.:)

Please help me as i`m a bit worried about my interview calls. My stats goes like - comp. score is 88, toefl score is 106 and my gpa is 3.47. I`ve applied in nyu, boston, wisconsin, colorado, connecticut univs. but haven`t heard anyth abt the calls yet.I think `I`ve worked well on my personal statement and my CV.What do you think are my chances of gettin in.I haven`t taken part 2 as yet.

Hi.
I am Bulgarian, too.. I still did part1, toefl, ece and then applied through caapid. It doesnt matter if it is a master degree (i am from Sofia's MU, class 2008). What about you?

Thanks For this very nice thread.
It seems that the deadlines on few / most of the colleges have changed , but then the list is a really nice starting pointer.

Hi guys
1. does anybody know which schools accept notarized copies? Makes a hell of a difference in the amount of score reports ordered and thus money spent..
2. Also does anybody know which schools dont accept provisional diploma of the international university?

?? I don't see any list of schools in the file... I only see abbreviations for some words....? ("codes")

I am fed up and frustrated from the foreign trained dentist program (advanced standing) and better than wasting years on getting HIGH scores in this and that and on waiting.

So I took DAT, passed it (easy) and I am sure that it will be so easy to get in any US Dental School. 4 years as student with one year prior for application=5, better than mission impossible of 2-3 years in school and 3-4 stressful years to get accepted first=about 7 specially as this government keeps bringing foreign trained dentists to US and the previous one brought too many from Afghanistan and Iraq.

And as it is for all foreigners, Stay away from Dental Schools of Rednecks States (Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia).
