Matched last position in NRMP match

Hi,
I am grateful to have matched somewhere. However, it is quite far from where my parents are at and both of them are not doing good healthwise. It's a psychiatry position in the southern states and I was wondering if the NRMP would grant me a waiver at all to leave my position and possibly go for one of the local programs that are in my home state that are unfilled?

I'm in a bit of a mind boggle as I was not expecting to match my 16th position.

You could ask. Contrary to current belief, program directors are human.

I wouldn't push it. There were people who didn't match.
