I remember when I applied three years ago how pissed off I was when I had to find out each school's LOR requirements. Good work!

I was hoping someone could give me a few suggestions. Unfortunately my base hospital does not have a chairman of pediatrics. I've been offered a few interviews at programs where this conflicts with their requirements. Should I go to the interview assuming this they wouldn't have invited me if the requirements weren't met to their satisfaction? Should I send them in email inquiring about the requirement?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

From what I have seen, getting your pediatric clerkship director to write a letter will usually be taken in place of a chair letter. You could ask him/her to specifically say in the letter that there is no chairman.

As far as the schools that have said requirement but have already offered interviews...not sure what to say. It may end up hurting you in the ranking process, it may not. I'd shoot for getting that pediatric clerkship director letter.

LOR requirements and links are updated. Some of the programs no longer list Chairman's LOR as a requirement, while others have added it as a requirement. Links to the programs' websites were updated. Programs no longer listed in AMA Freida were removed.

So for Ohio State University, a department letter is required not a department chair letter. Does anyone know exactly what should be in this letter? I have been getting vague descriptions from everyone I ask. I'm not even certain who should write this letter. I have been told the department chair and clerkship director. I'm from a very small hospital and we don't even have a clerkship director.

It sounds like this is a matter of semantics. Just get the department chair to write a letter.

Removed a few programs, added a few programs. Links are up to date as of today. Added J/H visas if the websites mention them. Interestingly enough there were no significant changes in LOR requirements during this update.
