Hello everyone,

I am concerned about my lower stats in applying for medical school. Just wanted to get some opinions on if I should consider doing a post bacc program.

My application would look something like this if I applied in the upcoming cycle.
-3.45 cGPA 3.3 sGPA 508 MCAT
-Two years of undergraduate research
-Mission trip to Nicaragua
-Two years of volunteering / paid position as an EMT
-Two years as an RA at my school
-Approximately 500hrs working as a biology lab assistant
-Shadowed a DO and PA
-Have a strong upward trend in GPA
-Two years of Calculus I and II tutoring
-4 year college athlete (D3)

I am not opposed to DO programs as well,

would love to hear what you guys think.

You are competitive applicant for DO. Your sGPA is right at the avg but MCAT is great. Apply broadly and you will get in somewhere. You should apply asap. You can take some upper division science classes to raise you sGPA. You don't need post bacc.

Agree with above. You could do post-bacc to propel yourself into MD but it is risky since most of them are rigorous and it could hurt you in the long run. But if you have faith in yourself and really want that MD I would do an accredited SMP like Georgetown, BU MAMS, UCincinnati
