This publication is designed to provide general information likely to be of interest to a dentist, regardless of nationality, who was educated outside the United States and Canada. Sources for more specific information are identified, where appropriate. Because educational institutions and licensing agencies change their provisions periodically, it is always advisable to obtain specific current information directly.

Here is a link, I found it to be very useful. It lists the phone # of the univ. to contact for IDP. Also, it shows what the minimum NDB Part I score and Toefl score you need for each univ. which has IDP.

I've seen this website before, it sure has a lot of critical info put together in one place; it will be a great place of newbies in the topic. BUT, I sure don't like it, I find the tone of this text a bit pessimistic.
If you guys check this guy resume, he isn't a dentist in the US, he's only a dental assistant. He says he knows about the process, but he fails to mention how he acquired all this experience. He doesn't mention going to a US school, at least I couldn't find it anywhere.

Of course, this is my personal opinion only. Let's take things with a grain of salt here!

Write Kaplan to find out.

EDITED Feb 25th, 2004:

I wrote to Kaplan 'cause I was interested in a part 2 Qbank, here's their answer:

Subject : NBDE Part II

The only program we currently offer for Part II is a 3 month centr prep review. If you are near a Kaplan center, I would suggest you stop by to review the materials provided and the Part II notes that we published late in 2003. The 10 Case studies have been well received by students who have used the notes.

We do not currently have plans for a Part II Qbank, but will keep you advised of any new additions to the course.

This link is from UCLA, and is very helpful for all of those IDP applicants seeking info on how to do certain preparations that we have doubts about.

http://www.dent.ucla.edu/ftp/classes/2006/fixedprosthodontics.html

It contains step by step pictures for crown preps, MOD preps, onlay and inlay preps, 3/4 preps, etc. Actually it continues to wax up, metal tryout, cementing, removal, etc.

And if you go here http://www.dent.ucla.edu/2006/ you'll find all sorts of slides about operative dentistry, pharmacology, periodontics, etc. This link will be very useful for those preparing for NBDE part 2.

These files are quite large, and they may take a lot to download. Also, since these files may be removed at any time, I advise you to print whatever you think you might need in the future.

I found these links by Googling "3/4 crown", you guys may want to try this when looking for this type of info. Surprisingly you'll get more links than what you think.

Check out the site
Dentaltown
for the people who are selected in more than one school and wanna ask students and dentists about the schools.
you'll get other valuble info regarding interview and patient pool and facilities available at the schools.
take care
