Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you all well,

I am an italian doctor newly graduated and registered with IMC few days back,

Anyone can give me any advice on how to get into residency in Ireland?

Do I need to enter the BST program in order to be considered for HST training?
How can I increase my chances to secure a job spot in Ireland?

You will need to firstly complete the intern year in the Irish medical system. The year constitutes four rotations: three months in General Surgery, three in general medicine and two three-month rotations in a number of wards/specialties. As a graduate of the Italian system, you are eligible to apply but will need to do so in October for the following July.

Upon obtaining the certificate, you can take one of two routes based on your interests and career goals (and of course, competition ;)). Have a look here: Intern Training - HSE.ie

I believe the intern year is required, regardless of whether you have already completed your internship in another country but I'm not 100% sure of this.
