Utah interview experience:

1 year - 2 fellows
2 year - 1 fellow

Great coronaries, and great structural, 200 TAVR, ASD, VSD melody valves, biopsies, cardiomems and what not but you have to do extra year for that.

-NYU (anonymous). They offered four interview days (they maybe had ~ 12 candidates: Penn State x2, Loma Linda, Albert Einstein). They had 3 spots (1 spot went to an internal candidate, 2 spots to external candidates). Interviewers are easygoing and will ask about your research experience and interests. Paper application (not in ERAS). This is a research oriented program. Fellows cover NYUMC, VA and Bellevue. They are proud of their peripheral experience. You can do a second year of research, structural or peripheral. However, they warned that second year positions can be offered to external candidates. As usual, program director is nice.

Vanderbilt apparently sent invitations last Thursday at like 9pm according to one of my colleagues

U toledo, surprising a good place. under dog. Fellow already got 270 PCI and 100+ peripheral, around 10 ASD, no TAVR, but apparently they are trying to bring that. but if you want just coronaries and peripheral great program. they take only one fellow and they have internals so fingers crossed.

Interview experiences
- NYMC (Westchester) (anonymous): Seemed to be a fellow friendly program, with 1 fellow and flexible call schedule. Hospital PCI volume ~450, 30 STEMI;s, >100 structural heart procedures (TAVR, MitralClip, Watchman) Will give offer around end of Feb.

- Utah (ICguy): 1 year - 2 fellows, 2 year - 1 fellow. Great coronaries, and great structural, 200 TAVR, ASD, VSD melody valves, biopsies, cardiomems and what not but you have to do extra year for that.

-UToledo (ICguy): surprising a good place. under dog. Fellow already got 270 PCI and 100+ peripheral, around 10 ASD, no TAVR, but apparently they are trying to bring that. but if you want just coronaries and peripheral great program. they take only one fellow and they have internals so fingers crossed.

- UW (anonymous): Saturday. 3 internal/7 external candidates (Columbia, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, UCLA, MGH, Albert Einstein College of Medicine). Offered positions to 1 internal and 1 external candidates. Nice interviewers (only 1 technical question). Selection/rejection process took 3-4 weeks.

Paper application (not in ERAS). This is a research-oriented program. Fellows cover NYUMC, VA and Bellevue. They are proud of their peripheral experience. You can do an additional year of research, structural or peripheral. However, they warned that second year positions can be offered to external candidates. As usual, the program director is nice.

- Utah (ICguy): 1 year - 2 fellows, 2 year - 1 fellow. Great coronaries, and great structural, 200 TAVR, ASD, VSD melody valves, biopsies, cardiomems and what not but you have to do extra year for that.

-UToledo (ICguy): surprising a good place. underdog. Fellow already got 270 PCI and 100+ peripheral, around 10 ASD, no TAVR, but apparently, they are trying to bring that. but if you want just coronaries and peripheral great program. they take only one fellow and they have internals so fingers crossed.

- UW (anonymous): Saturday. 3 internal/7 external candidates (Columbia, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, UCLA, MGH, Albert Einstein College of Medicine). Offered positions to 1 internal and 1 external candidates. Nice interviewers (only 1 technical question). Selection/rejection process took 3-4 weeks.

For those who have accepted a position, did you accept the position right away when they offered it to you? How much time did they let you think about it. Is it reasonable to ask for 48 hours? or does it not look good if you ask for that. Thanks

U can ask them what is the deadline and say you are very interested and would talk to your family and get back ASAP. Some programs will give you further extension as needed while some are not flexible. I am not applying for Interventional but I just signed for another cards subspecialty fellowships. Got an offer from a program who gave me 48 hours but I straight up told them that I was waiting to hear from a program in my city . They ended up extending for a week to give me the chance to hear a yay or nay from the other program. Ofcos when other program called me they gave me 24 hours, but I obviously said yes on the phone.

Anyone ever hear back from Cornell? In my experience, they did not have the courtesy to acknowledge receipt of application (non-ERAS) and refuse to respond to e-mails.

It's ERAS list of participating and nonparticipating programs. I've marked it based on our thread. Probably many more are already filled.

Original list has been updated - I cannot copy red to the new post.

Any suggestion if someone still did not get a spot. Most of programs already filled. Some they have not even started.

Just had a question about program reputation and training experiences for the following interventional programs (if someone could rank them in order even it would be appreciated)
Allegheny Health network Pittsburgh; University of AZ Tucson; UTMB Galveston; University at Buffalo; Providence Park Hospital Program Michigan

Utah interview experience:

1 year - 2 fellows
2 year - 1 fellow

Great coronaries, and great structural, 200 TAVR, ASD, VSD melody valves, biopsies, cardiomems and what not but you have to do extra year for that.

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

Do they still have that crazy program director? I interviewed there in the past, PD was super malignant. Also their STEMI experience was terrible. The vast majority of their STEMIs were actually post TPA flown from far away.

For Lebanese and Syrians,
Apply to St. John providence Michigan program- they are still looking for 2 IC fellows.
The program director Marcel Zughaib takes only Arab Lebanese and Syrian fellows

Any programs still looking for candidates?
Where also to find any opening spot? some people change there mind during this process.

What are the groups thoughts on the Mayo interventional fellowship? Would appreciate any/all input. Thank you.

The interview season is still going on. I received another invite yesterday. Keep your heads up!
