Incoming M1, having trouble picking a laptop, but have narrowed it down significantly. Any input helps!

Requirements:

1. School says I need something with at least an i5 (or equivalent), 8gb ram, 250 gb ssd. They assure me that while they won't necessarily check my computer's stats, those are pretty rigid requirements.

2. I'm not an apple person. I will not be buying a MacBook. Not because I dislike apple or have a bias against them, I have owned an ipod, iPad, MacBook, and iMac. I just like PC/android products way more. This is completely relative to my own experiences.

3. Our school provides most of our textbooks through ebook/online format, and assures us we can edit, annotate, etc, using their software, so I'm thinking a touchscreen/stylus is where I'm going.

Choices I'm leaning towards:

Microsoft Surface Book
i5/256gb/8gb - $1900
i7/512gb/16gb - $2700
Pros: Great screen, premium design, laptop/tablet mode, awesome battery life
Cons: price, many units are glitchy/buggy

Microsoft Surface Pro 4
i7/256gb/8gb - $1350
i7/512gb/16gb - $1680 (sale from $2100)
Pros: Great portability, good design, had a SP3 for years and am extremely comfortable with this pc, good screen for writing/note taking, not buggy like the Book
Cons: clunky footprint with the kickstand, keyboard sold separately (+$130)

HP Spectre x360 13"
i7/512gb/16gb ram - $1500
Pros: Best value, 4K display, good stylus, high quality audio, USB C ports
Cons: Screen/keyboard not detachable (not a huge fan of "tent mode"), not the best battery life ever, I don't wanna be that guy with an HP laptop (jk, jk)

Thanks for your feedback everybody!
