First Passage AAMC Psych/Soc Section Bank

Did anyone else think the answer explanations for this passage were ridiculous? They're bringing in a ton of outside information that wasn't even presents in the passage (assuming that those pilots who didn't do well in phase I dropped out?). Maybe someone can clear things up for me here if they don't mind looking up the passage and outlining the big takeaways.

If it makes you feel any better, I ended up scoring 129 in the psych/soc secion on the real thing. Keep it up!
