Hello folks!

Are you guys interested in exotic/wild/birds medicine? I'd like to propose with this tread a discussion, a provide a place to discuss materials, procedures and all related to this fascinating area of Veterinary.

And to start, what is a must have book to exotic animals students?

I have used Carpenter's more times than I can count. I think having a somewhat in-depth book about husbandry, surgery/anatomy, and common conditions for reptiles, avian species, aquatics (if it applies to your practice) and exotic mammals is a must as well. I like to ask around regarding which books are best since there are many that are advertised as veterinary textbooks, but are far too basic for the average vet student interested in exotics.

VIN is also a decent resource for connecting with other exotics vets.

quesenberry is a good, quick, go-to guide, as well. That and Carpenter's formulary. I also have a book called "reptile medicine" I find very useful
