Which endo residency programs train you in implants and to what level?

Go to an endo program to learn endo. I don't think implants in endo are going to go very far. I will say I know UCSF is one of the main program that advertises implant training. Moral of the story though is don't count on learning much wherever you go.

Swoops- when did UCSF endo program start teaching implant training, do the residents actually place implants? I heard they recently had gotten a new program director.

apparently you haven't seen the AAE's position paper on implants in Endo...

In reality, practice habits aren't going to change substantially for anyone.. My view of what endodontics is and isn't doesn't matter. The AAE's view of what endodontists can do ultimately won't change much of their role in the dental field.

Lets see?
If I needed an implant. Would I consider the "embalmer" of teeth to place my implant or a specialist that is an expert at manipulating live bone and tissue (Periodontist).

This is an interesting thread.

Technically, wouldn't prosthodontists (e.g. Misch) be the implant specialists? Implants are fixed prosthesis.
I understand the argument for Periodontists and Oral surgeons, but then Endodontists being trained in implants? Can someone elaborate on the rationale please? I'm still a student.

Regardless .... I believe the future of implant dentistry is the qualified single dentist or center that can place and restore the implant. It seems logical that a single dentist can control all the treatment from the start to end. Also patients probably do not like to see multiple dentists at different locations.
