After going through the very helpful responses on my recent post regarding salary as a percent of revenue, I have determined that perhaps I am getting compensated fairly based on my experience and competitiveness of the local market.
This left me wondering if my doldrums are because I am just *really* slow because I am new. With about 120 cases (jars) per day, I am spending on average 55-60 hrs/week at work. Some of this time is spent reading stains, etc. to be confident in my call or showing cases around. The latter two should hopefully decrease as my experience increases.
Based on the responses to my revenue/percent post, I am gathering that 55hr/wk is an inordinate amount of time for an experienced dermpath. I therefore have a threefold question:
1. When you first started, what was your approximate caseload and time spent per week at work?
2. How long was it before you felt you were "comfortable" and working at least near your experienced-dermpath speed.
3. What is your current daily caseload and how many hours do you spend per week at work?
